Maine Compost School–HPAI Compost Carcass Management Training–September 19-22, 2016

Dr. Bill Layering Chicken Mortalities

This four-day program is designed to provide participants with essential information regarding responding to a Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) outbreak. The training is also designed to fulfill part of criteria necessary to become a USDA Veterinary Services Compost Subject Matter Expert (SME). Successful completion of this course and a passing grade of 80% on the certification examination are necessary to advance in the SME training program.

During this training, participants will learn the concepts necessary effectively manage composting of poultry mortalities generated from a HPAI event. The exact breakout of the class is listed below:
